Making its debut in November 2022, ChatGPT has quickly spread to become one of the most used AI, or Artificial Intelligence, tools in the U.S. Here are some key statistics you should know about ChatGPT to put into perspective just how large of a platform it is, and the reach it has on our society:

  • ChatGPT gained one million users in its first week after launch.
  • The ChatGPT website currently receives an estimated 1.6 billion monthly website visitors (an increase of around 1 billion from January 2023), with an estimated 100 million active users.
  • The tool set a record for having the fastest-growing user base in history for a consumer application, gaining 1 million users in just 5 days.

Most of the conversation around AI almost a year in revolves around what jobs will be reduced or even eliminated because of the technology. Harvard Business Review recently published an article outlining how the best companies are reskilling their workers whose skill sets may soon be obsolete. But rather than a sense of trepidation, we tend to feel excitement when it comes to trying out a new tool. It may evolve simpler or mundane parts of our industry, but at least for the moment, AI still needs a human to direct it, and provide that first source of creativity.

Our Thoughts

To sum it up: We like ChatGPT! Our founder Aquila prefers Bard, Google’s AI platform, and there are various platforms popping up every day for specific purposes. Of course, we don’t believe AI can run your business or should take over the role of a person, because at the end of the day it is just technology. For the purposes of helping to create a social media caption or an outline for a presentation, though, it’s a very useful tool.

With ChatGPT or Bard the key is to put in enough description for what you’re looking for in order to get a more personalized, and less robotic response. Even then, we often find ourselves switching out words and phrases to make a sentence sound more human. For example, with a social media caption you can type, “please write me a social media caption announcing our restaurant is closed on Christmas.” After actually entering this prompt into ChatGPT the response was:

“As the holiday season fills the air with warmth and joy, we want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for your continuous support throughout the year. In the spirit of celebrating this special time with our loved ones, [Restaurant Name] will be closed on Christmas Day, December 25th.
Our team has been working tirelessly to bring you delicious culinary experiences all year long, and now it’s time for them to enjoy some well-deserved quality time with their families and friends.
We look forward to welcoming you back with open arms on [Date We Reopen], ready to serve you with even more passion and creativity. Until then, may your Christmas be filled with love, laughter, and delightful feasts shared with those who matter most.”

For a social media caption stating a change in hours for a business, this may be a tad too long, we’re not in the business of writing novels. Although ChatGPT is not full proof, it does cut out some work by giving you a good starting place for anything you’re working on! So the next time you’re stumped on a task or dreading a tedious amount of research or copywriting, give AI a try and see if it doesn’t save you a bit of time or strike a chord of inspiration.
