Happy October! The first week of the month is a great time to sit down and plan content, content shoots, launches, and anything that should be sent out whether that be email campaigns, text send outs, etc. These planning sessions are helpful for your team to get together and ensure everyone is on the same page.

Content

We utilize a content calendar, and heavily recommend that for anyone wanting to have a consistent posting schedule. A content calendar helps with visually seeing what kind of content you’re posting, and where there may be gaps that need to be filled in.

One fun idea that could be utilized is a weekly post that continues throughout the year. This not only helps to fill in your calendar but also creates consistency and something your followers can look forward to. For example, a hair salon company may post ‘Beauty Tip Fridays’ where they include a new beauty tip that clients and followers can try out. This opens the possibility of engagement with followers leaving comments and helps you to establish credibility in your area of expertise.

Once you know what you will be posting, the next step is gathering the content. Some of that content may be photos or videos already captured at previous photoshoots. Other content may need to be included in an upcoming photoshoot needing to be planned.

Content Shoot

At HIT we aim for one content shoot a month for each of our clients. This helps their social media feeds to stay fresh. After looking at your calendar and creating a list of photography and videography you’ll need for upcoming posts, you’ll have a better idea of when this shoot should take place. Stay tuned for an upcoming blog on how we plan content shoots and what we include in our shot lists!

Everything else

Lastly, there’s the launches, campaigns, and send outs to be considered. Launches are more important if they are soon. Ensuring you’re posting about them and have everything prepared is essential. If it’s a few months away still, it doesn’t hurt to plug in ideas to your content calendar to review in the future. For email campaigns and text message send outs, aligning them with days that a post with the same information is going out will be helpful to ensure you’re putting out consistent messaging.

While this all may sound tedious or like a lot of work, planning out your month allows you to be consistent and organized. It also ensures that nothing is forgotten or left to the last minute to figure out. If you’re an agency like us, planning for the month streamlines communication between agency and client and allows for each month to be a smooth process.
