Searching for trending content is a whole different ballpark. There are more common ways like surfing through hashtags to see what types of popular content pops up. This is where those adjectives to describe your business like silly and calm are helpful.
We’ve also found that scrolling through your own FYP, or ‘For You Page’, on Instagram can be a useful tool in looking for trending content! More likely than not, what is shown on your FYP is probably like that of your audience. Relying on the algorithm can be risky but rewarding if you do feel that your algorithm and that of your audience aligns. Saving content that resonates with you for inspiration is a great way to get started with this.
Lastly, audio goes a long way with trending content. If you start to take notice of an audio that’s maybe paired with a recent movie or album release, think of ways you can utilize it for your own company. Additionally, audio on Instagram with a little upward facing arrow next to it is identified by Instagram as trending, and would be great selections for your Reel.

Although the status quo is to not take trends too seriously, being conscious of your audience and how they will react to something you post is important. Whether you run it by a fellow content creator, do a quick news and internet search, or even check through social media before posting, double checking that your content is up to date with the current trends, and being mindful of current events is a good way to stay out of trouble.
