As a PR and Marketing agency, we are always keeping our eye on the latest and greatest TikTok trends. With trending videos reaching their peak in a normally short amount of time before falling into the depths of TikTok’s billions of videos, you should act quick on creating your own creative spin on these trends! What’s even better is that you can recycle this content onto Instagram Reels. Viral content can range from a type of video to a specific audio. What’s important to keep in mind is being sure to stick with what the trend is, while also personalizing your video to your specific business. While it may not be rocket science, this can be harder than you may think. Luckily, we are pros and here to help! Follow along as we walk through current trending videos and give tips on how you can create your own.

Canon

The Canon TikTok trend is a short video with text displayed over the whole screen. According to Urban Dictionary, in pop culture Canon refers to “the aspects of a story or fictional world or universe that are considered to be official.” On TikTok we see the theme of the video having ‘Canon’ refers to an event that is avoidable, but normally not avoided because it is an experience that needs to be lived in order to learn from. Touching on a mistake you made with your business in the early days could be a great way to poke fun at yourself while also showing how you and your business have grown from then to now.

Beige Flag

A current HIT staff favorite, the beige flag trend is more comedy based. Defined by Urban Dictionary, a beige flag is “something that’s neither good nor bad but makes you pause for a minute when you notice it and then you just continue on. It’s something odd.” Many people have used their relationships as the inspiration for their videos, pointing out how a boyfriend may get the inside scoop or drama from someone, but then fail to get the actual details that make it interesting. A very versatile trend, you can use this to describe any aspect of your business, from the way it operates or the way a customer may benefit from it in an out of the norm way.

Whack-a-Doodle Time

An older trend, but one we still see rolling across our For You pages, this audio by the iconic reality tv star, Lisa Rinna, is used over a plethora of videos and can be related to many different subjects. The text on the video will normally start with “when” followed by something that happens often, while also being a little weird, or whacky. If you are looking for a time to be relatable to the viewer, this is a great trend to jump on.

Other tips and tricks

If you don’t have a specific audio in mind, but would still like to choose something trending, you can. Before, during or after creating your video in the app you are able to select music. In the Audio section, there are pre-selected playlists created by TikTok. ‘TikTok Viral’ and ‘TikBiz’ are two playlists we love to surf through for inspiration if we need it, or to try and pair with an already made video.
